Usually, the trunk of Ganesha is depicted turned to his left. It is believed that the right-trunked Ganesha is very powerful, but difficult to please this is the speciality of the Siddhivinayak.

3. Theur - Chintamani:

The temple is situated at a distance of 22 km from Pune. Morya Gosavi went under meditation and attained siddhi. Morya Gosavi’s son constructed this temple to commemorate the event. Lord Ganesha as Chintamani is god that brings peace of mind and drives away all perplexities of the mind. The legend revolves around a special Gem called Chintamani.

The sage Kapila had this Gem in his possessions which has the capacity to grant one’s wishes. The sage Kapila put the Chintamani on Lord Ganesha’s neck. Thus the deity here came to be known as Chintamani Vinayak i.e. the Lord who fulfills the wishes of devotees.

4. Ranjangaon - Mahaganapati:

The temple is situated at a distance of 50 km from Pune. The Maha Ganapati is the most powerful representation of Lord Ganesha. Mahaganapati is depicted as having eight, ten or twelve arms. Mahaganapati is portrayed, seated on a lotus, flanked by his consorts Siddhi and Riddhi. The temple dates back to the period of Madhavrao Peshwa.

The temple is constructed so that the rays of the sun fall directly on the idol of Ganesha. It is one of the most beautiful temple in Ashtavinayak tour.

5. Ozar - Vighneshwar:

The temple is situated at a distance of 85 km from Pune. Vighneshwara's temple is situated on the banks of river Kukadi. The temple is famous for its Deepmala's and its Golden dome. Among Ashtavinayaka’s Vighneshwara temple is the only temple with a golden dome & pinnacle.

The temple is east facing and has diamonds in eyes, on forehead and in naval. Riddhi-Siddhi stands on either sides. The idol is believed to be ‘Swayambhu’ as it was found or not sculpted by human hands.

6. Lenyadri - Girijatmaj:

The temple is situated at a distance of 135 km from Pune. Shree Girijatmaj Lenyadri Ganapati is the only Ganesh temple which is carved in caves. There are 28 caves here, stretching from east to west. The temple occupies the complete 7th cave which gives a broad look to the temple. It is said that in this particular cave Devi Parvati performed tapascharya for twelve years for gaining her son. After this long tapascharya, Lord Ganesh himself came before her.

The name of the idol ‘Girijatmaj’ comes as ‘Girija’ meaning Devi Parvati and ‘Aatmaj’ meaning Son. This idol seems to be little different from the rest of the Ashtavinayak idols in a sense that it appears to be not very well designed or carved like the other idols.

7. Mahad - Varad Vinayak:

The temple is situated at a distance of 85 km from Pune. Here devotees are allowed to individually pay their worship and respects to the idol directly. Ganesha is said to reside here in the form of Varad Vinayaka, the giver of bounty and success. The temple faces East, has its trunk to the left and has been in the constant company of an oil lamp - said to be burning continuously since 1892.

There are 4 elephant idols on 4 side of the temple. Devotees are allowed in the immediate vicinity of this idol to perform their prayers.

The original wooden temple was reconstructed into a stone temple by Nana Phadnavis in 1760. Like a few other murtis, this one has diamonds embedded in the eyes and navel, and with his trunk pointing to the left.

One speciality of this temple is that the prasad offered to this Ganapati at Pali is Besan Laadu instead of Modak that is normally offered to other Ganapatis. Behind this temple is the temple of Shri Dhundi-Vinayak which is West facing. This is a very rare idol which is facing the West.
